Starting school

After being in Oregon for a month I started school. A few days before school started I went there to meet with a counselor who helped me pick out my subjects. In my school we have seven subjects every semester and all exchange students have to take American History and some kind of English. My counselor was super helpful and she explain what all of the classes the school offers where about.

My schedule

The first day of school my host sister showed me around school the first day and I got around to all my classes. I'm really happy I had her there because otherwise I would probably have gotten lost, I'm terrible at finding my way.

The first day it wasn't the easiest to talk to people for me either. People were kind of busy trying to find their own classes and seeing their friends for the first time in a long time and so on but it gets so much easier after the first few days. People are really super friendly here so if you worry about that, please don't. Everybody takes their time and they talk to you if you're willing to talk to them.

Arriving to Oregon

This was maybe the most nerve-racking experience so far, arriving to Oregon and meeting my host family for the first time but it went well. Everybody was really nice and they tried to help me in all ways possible. Oregon is an amazingly pretty state and flying over it was amazing. Such scenery!

EF camp

One of the many things that are great with my organization, EF, is that you have the possibility to go on a camp the first ten days of your exchange year. I decided to go because it sounded like lots of fun and I thought it would be a good opportunity to get to know America a bit before I went to my host family. It was a lot of fun and we got to try lots of American stuff, like going to a Baseball game and trying different sports and meet new friends from all around the world.

We liked on an campus of a collage in Vermont and it was the most beautiful place. Everybody got divided into different "high schools" that you had your classes with. In class we got to learn lots of different stuff about America, the states we were going to, the couture and the language.

A couple of days we went on trips. One day we went to the beach which was really nice since the wether was good and you could just chill with your friends all day.

 

An other day we went to Boston which was one of my absolute favorite parts of the trip. We went there in busses and when we came there we got tighter with the people we wanted to be with and we got to do what ever we wanted to. Me and my friend Elena from Switzerland choose to go to Harvard and visit a building with a view over the entire city.

And when the camp sadly came to an end we got popsicles from our teacher and in the earning we got to see a great firework show!

 Overall I had a great experience at camp, we had so much fun and I meet so many nice people. I truly recommend this to anyone going to the US with EF! It was the best start my year could possibly have!

A Start of Something New

So, I decided to start this blog to, in some way record my life in America. I'm an exchange student in a tiny town called Dallas in Oregon, USA. I have been in the US for 9 weeks now and gone to school for 4 weeks so it feels like I started this blog a bit late but I'm going to try to wrought about what has happened in till now before I start to actually write whats happening now.
